গত ২১.০৬.২০২৬ তারিখে মানিকচক   থানার বাসিন্দা মোঃ আব্দুল রউফের লিখিত অভিযোগের ভিত্তিতে একটি মামলা রুজু হয়। অভিযোগে তিনি জানান যে, ১৬.০৬.২০২৬ তারিখে ৩০.৮৭ মেট্রিক টন ভুট্টা একটি ১৪ চাকার ট্রাকে করে খড়গপুরের একটি মাইজ মিলে পাঠানো হয়। কিন্তু ট্রাকটি গন্তব্যস্থলে পৌঁছায়নি। অভিযোগকারী ট্রাকের মালিক ও চালকের সঙ্গে একাধিকবার যোগাযোগের চেষ্টা করলেও তাদের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করতে ব্যর্থ হন।
তদন্ত চলাকালীন ২৬.০৬.২০২৬ তারিখে  মিলন বেরা নামে একটি ব্যাক্তিকে গ্রেফতার করে পুলিশ হেফাজতে নেওয়া হয়। তার দেওয়া তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে ৩০.০৬.২০২৬ তারিখে হাফিজুদ্দিন মাইতিকে গ্রেফতার করে পুলিশ হেফাজতে নেওয়া হয়।
অভিযুক্তদের দেওয়া তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে ০৬.০৭.২০২৬ তারিখে হুগলি জেলার দাদপুর থানার অন্তর্গত মালিপাড়া রোড এলাকায় পুলিশ অভিযান চালায়। অভিযানের সময় প্রায় ৩০ টন চুরি যাওয়া ভুট্টা, যার আনুমানিক মূল্য প্রায় ৬ লক্ষ টাকা, এবং ট্রাকটি উদ্ধার করা হয়। উদ্ধার হওয়া সমস্ত সামগ্রী আইনানুগ প্রক্রিয়া মেনে বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়েছে।
সমস্ত আইনি প্রক্রিয়া সম্পন্ন হওয়ার পর উদ্ধার হওয়া ভুট্টা ও ট্রাক প্রকৃত মালিকের নিকট হস্তান্তর করা হবে।
মালদা জেলা পুলিশ সকল প্রকার অপরাধের বিরুদ্ধে শূন্য সহনশীলতার নীতি অনুসরণ করে জেলার নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে চলেছে।
On 21.06.2026, a case was registered at Manikchak PS on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Md. Abdul Rouf of Manikchak, alleging that on 16.06.2026, 30.87 MT of maize was loaded into a 14-wheeler truck for transportation to a maize mill at Kharagpur. However, the said truck failed to reach its destination. The complainant made several attempts to contact the truck owner and the driver, but all attempts failed.
During investigation on 26.06.2026 one person named Milan Bera was arrested and taken into police custody. Based on his statement, Hafijuddin Maity was arrested on 30.06.2026 and also taken into police custody.
On 06.07.2026 Acting on the statements of the accused, a police team conducted raid at Malipara Road under Dadpur Police Station, Hooghly district. During raid, police recovered the stolen approximately 30 tonnes of maize, valued at around ₹6 lakh, along with the truck. All recovered has been seized.
The recovered maize and the vehicle will be handed over to their rightful owner after completion of all legal formalities.
