DISTRICT POLICE PROFILE
Malda District Police is headed by Superintendent of Police, being assisted by Addl. Supdt of Police, Dy. Supdt of Police, Inspectors and other sub-ordinate officers and force.
Malda District has 16 (sixteen) Police stations including Women PS and Cyber PS. Each Police station is headed by either an Inspector or a Sub-Inspector, being assisted by other officers and force. A list of Police stations of the district is appended below:

Two Addl SPs, who are designated as Addl SP HQ and Addl SP Rural assist SP Malda to run Police administration of Malda district. Addl SP HQ looks after Malda Sadar subdivision and other District Police units whereas Addl SP Rural looks after Chanchal Sub division.
Similarly, Zonal and Headquarter Dy. SPs are entrusted with various assignment under immediate supervision of Addl SPs. Dy. SP Traffic is responsible to look after Traffic management, Dy SP DEB is responsible for Enforcement issues and Dy SP DIB for district intelligence.
Police Stations are basic units of District Police Administration. Police Stations of Malda District are headed by either Inspectors or Sub Inspectors considering their importance. In this district, Inspectors are given charge for English Bazar PS, Malda PS, Chanchal PS, Harishchandrapur PS and Kaliachak PS and rest are under supervision of Sub Inspectors.
Circle Inspectors of Police supervise PS work which are headed by Sub Inspectors. CI Gazole supervises Gazole PS and Bamongola PS whereas CI Ratua supervises Ratua, Manikchak, Pukhuria, Mothabari and Bhutni PSs.

Malda district has 165.5 km of International border with our neighbouring country Bangladesh. BSF is responsible to protect the border and to control smuggling activities. There is a land port and border checkpoint at Mahadipur on the Bangladesh-India border, which is being developed as an integrated check post (ICP) for the smooth movement of goods and people.
